Splink 1:

Different, but United

Give your kids choices at dinner to teach about unity. Give a couple of choices for each “course” (appetizer, main course, vegetables, drink, and dessert) and invite each family member to pick what they would like. (Expect lots of different opinions!) If you don’t want to do this for a meal, choose two or three flavors of ice cream (pint size works great) and ask them to pick a favorite.

We all have different opinions about what we like or do… like…and that’s okay. We don’t all have to agree that broccoli is the best vegetable in the world.

Are there things we can disagree about, but still be united and work together? Yes!

The Christ followers in Corinth had divided into groups based on their likes and dislikes. Paul (in his letter to the Corinthians) told the Christ followers to work together instead of dividing according to who they liked. Even though we have different likes/dislikes, we can work together to

A New Motto

Work together to make a display of the new Bible verse for the month: Colossians 3:17. Get out the paper (copy or construction paper), markers, stickers, or whatever you have. Assign each family member a word or two (or a phrase) to write on their piece of paper. Then let each one decorate their paper. Hang them together as a banner or in order on the wall. Say the verse together every day. What a good reminder that whatever we do (including caring for our families), we are to do it for Jesus!

Splink 3:

Joined to Others

Share with others all over the world by packing a shoebox full of neat toys and love. (Don’t forget to send a letter and picture with your shoebox.) November 13-20 is the collection week for Operation Christmas Child. To learn about a great way to share with others, go here to watch an Operation Christmas Child video (a division of the relief organization, Samaritan’s Purse).

Deliver your shoeboxes to a drop-off location this week. (See their website for drop-off locations).
