MSM SG January 2019 Series

What We’re Learning: The Battle Within

The main goal of this series is to take a look at the temptations each us of face, where they come from, and how to overcome them.  Every week we will look at both some Old and New Testament scripture. Students will learn every time we are tempted, our trust in God is at stake, not just our self-control. And on week 3, your student will be given a challenge to memorize the following phrase: “Don’t trade what is important for what is immediate.” Imagine if every student started using that wisdom in their daily decision making!

Starting A Conversation:

  1. What are different temptations that middle school students face these days?
  2. How can I help you when you are struggling with temptation? (Is there a specific temptation I can help you overcome?)
January 19 & 20 memorization challenge. We challenge you to post this phrase somewhere your whole family will see it and memorize it. Talk together about what it means and how thinking this way can help us resist temptation. For an extra challenge, pick a Bible verse on temptation and memorize it together. (Maybe Matthew 4:8?)
