What We’re Learning: No Fear
The goal of today’s lesson is for students to know when they are afraid, they can trust God with their feelings and fears.
How do I lead my student through this lesson at home?
Grab a Bible, watch the video together and go through the below modified at-home discussion guide anytime you like OR play our online game and watch live with us Sunday at 10:35am on our MSM Facebook Page. We also have the original small group material here if you’d prefer that format.

TWO QUESTIONS FROM THE VIDEO:
1. What is something you are afraid of, or is causing you to be anxious?
2. What is something you are thankful for in this time of quarantine?
No Fear – April 19
- Main Point: Because God is God, you can be still and trust Him.
- Main Scripture: Psalm 46:1-3 & 10-11; Philippians 4:6-8
- Note to Parents: COVID-19 has caused our nation to enter into crisis mode. We don’t want to invalidate or be dismissive of students feelings, but we want to let them know when they are afraid how they can trust God with those feelings and fears.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
- What’s something that caused you fear when you were really little?
- Why did that cause fear?
- What things have caused you fear in light of the spread of COVID-19?
- Read Psalm 46:1-3. What do these verses tell us about God?
- How can that bring us comfort in the midst of our storms?
- Read Psalm 46:10-11. What can be hard about waiting and being still?
- Do you find it easy or tough to trust God with your fears? Why?
- Read Philippians 4:6-8. What does Paul instruct us to do with our worries?
- What is the result of us praying and trusting God?
NEXT STEP
Download this reflection guide and print it for your student (or show it to them on the screen if you can’t print). Give them a few minutes on their own to write out their answers for each section. Let them know they can write down anything, COVID-19 related or not. Fill out your own copy and share it with each other.
PRAYER GUIDE
Ask your student(s) to share their prayer requests and close your time together in prayer. Pray also for those in the world who don’t know Jesus to come to know Him and for God to give your family boldness to share His love and truth with others.
