What We’re Learning: Gameplan
God’s game plan is for us to share His goodness through loving and serving others.
Series Main Passage: Ephesians 2:10

How do I lead my student through this lesson at home?
Grab a Bible, watch the video together and go through the below modified at-home discussion guide anytime you like OR play our online game and watch live with us Sunday at 10:35am on our MSM Facebook Page. We also have the original small group material here if you’d prefer that format.

Special Needs Families:
Special Needs Modified Guide

Wk 2: July 19

  • Main Point: Love goes one step further.
  • Main Scripture: Luke 10:33-37

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Create meaningful conversation with your student(s). Adjust questions as needed, and don’t feel like you need to answer all of them.

  1. What are some ways that middle schoolers live in “me”
    bubbles every day?
  2. What’s one way you can break out of the “me” bubble?
  3. What’s one reason it’s difficult to think about the needs of
    others before our own needs?
  4. Have you ever witnessed someone go one step further for
    someone else? Share about it!
  5. Read Luke 10:33-37  and answer the following questions:
    1. Why do you think Jesus called us to show love to all
    people in all circumstances?
    2. Why is it easier to show love to people who are exactly
    like you?
    3. Why can it be difficult to show love to people who are
    different than you?

ACTIVITY (IN PERSON OR VIRTUAL)
On sticky notes, have your students write down some of the needs they see in various places like their school, friend groups, church, community, state, country, or even world.  Place the notes in a
column on the left side of the floor or wall in the area where your Small Group meets. (If you are discussing virtually, have students type answers in the chat and then call on them to share what they’ve typed. It might help for you to start by typing the question, “What are different needs you see in the world ?” This technique can give students time to think while helping discussion continue. Share one example to give students time to think.) Then, on another set of sticky notes, have your students write down ways in which those needs could be met. Post these in a column on the right side of the wall or floor so that students can see the need and how it might be met side by side. (If you are discussing virtually, again have students type answers in the chat and then call on them to share what they’ve typed. Start by typing “What are ways others can help meet these needs?” and sharing an example to give your students time to think.)
Note: Remember that the goal is to simply get students thinking about both
the needs they may see around them and the variety of ways those needs
could be met. They won’t actually have to do all of the things they suggest
to meet the needs, so encourage them to think creatively and talk about all
of the options!

NEXT STEPS
Set a goal for yourself: what’s one thing  you can do to go one step further to love and serve someone else this week?

PRAYER GUIDE
Ask your student(s) to share their prayer requests and close your time together in prayer.
