What We’re Learning: Jesus Said What?!
Jesus said a lot of things that would sound a little crazy to us today; Jesus said a lot of things that sounded crazy to the people of His day. But everything said was meaningful. Let’s take a deeper look at some of the things that might make us say, “JESUS SAID WHAT?!” and what they mean in our lives today.

How do I lead my student through this lesson at home?
Grab a Bible, watch the video together and go through the below modified at-home discussion guide anytime you like OR play our online game and watch live with us Sunday at 10:35am on our MSM Facebook Page. We also have the original small group material here if you’d prefer that format.

TWO QUESTIONS FROM THE VIDEO:
1) Is there anything in your life acting as a stumbling block from your following Jesus today?

2) If so, What extreme measures are you willing to take? “What is your game plan going to be?”

Jesus Said What?! Week 1 – April 26

  • Main Point: Jesus said what He said not to change our behavior but to transform our hearts.
  • Main Scripture: Matthew 5:27-30 & Romans 10:9

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  2. Why do some people think being a Christian is about following rules?
  3. What do you think it means to be a Christian?
  4. Read Matthew 25:27-30 (for fun: read it in a way you think Jesus might have actually said it). In your own words, what sin is Jesus talking about here?

  9. How can someone be saved?
  10. What does it mean to be saved?

NEXT STEP
What is one thing you can do this week to turn your heart toward Jesus? (Maybe you can take a next step together as a family and encourage each other throughout the week in it.)

PRAYER GUIDE
Ask your student(s) to share their prayer requests and close your time together in prayer.
Jesus, thank you for loving us unconditionally. Thank you for saving us when we believe in You in our hearts. Jesus, help us understand that following you isn’t first about changing our behaviors, but having faith in You in our hearts. Jesus, keep transforming our hearts and bringing them closer and closer to You. When we go astray, bring our hearts back to you. Let’s take a moment in silence to offer our hearts to God and list for God names of friends and family members whose hearts we want God to speak to. Amen.
