What we are learning:
Every good story has a hero: Superman, Luke Skywalker, Katniss Everdeen. They are larger than life. Maybe not perfect, but exciting and brave. Believe it or not, the Bible is full of heroes like that. They don’t have capes or lightsabers, but they fight giants, conquer dynasties, perform miracles and save the day over and over. King David is one of those heroes with a exciting and epic life. At first glance it can feel like we have zero in common with him, but as we take a closer look at the journey of a shepherd boy turned king, we see it wasn’t always a fairytale. In fact, we can learn a lot from the twists and turns of the journey that made him into a king. We can learn to live with purpose, honor, and integrity.
