Small Groups are really THE BEST way to get connected with other high school students to hang out and grow closer to Jesus. Small groups are the place where a BIG church becomes personal, everyone is known, and everyone belongs while studying the Bible together! High school can be a tough phase – especially in regards to caring what others think and figuring out who you are. Psychologists call this development phase the identity verse role confusion phase. Identity formation and crisis are common, students ask themselves:

  • What am I passionate about?
  • What do I believe?
  • What is my purpose in life?
  • Who am I?
  • Where do I belong?

And now because of phones and social media, teens can be criticized, bullied, or even just feel left out all the time. Our students need to know they are worth way more than however many likes they get on their posts. Whether they are trending on social media or in the halls of their high school or not, they are worth so much  that the God of the Universe sent His son to die to rescue them.

Affirm your students’ value to you, to God, and to the world over and over again. Consistently and unconditionally remind your students that they matter.
